CEIAG/EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMME
Year 11 and 12 students
who do not study GCSE Learning for Life and Work will cover the 6 statutory
statements for Employability at Key Stage 4 within their Careers class which
takes place once per fortnight. Those who do study GCSE Learning for Life and Work have a one period per fortnight allocated for Careers Education.
The Year 11 programme
has more a focus on the non careers related topics for example social
responsibility and globalisation then within the Year 12 programme we are more
focused on the careers related topics like recruitment and selection and their
personal career planning. In Year 12 the
selection process is further developed via Interview preparation and completing
of CV’s and personal statements for their Progress file. Pupils are made aware
at this stage of the different routes, qualifications, education and training
open to them, post 16. Once again pupils are made aware of the options
available to them in Sixth form and they are assisted in subject choice. Time
is taken to make pupils comfortable with their choices. Majority of students will be interviewed by a
Careers Advisor from the Department of Employment and Learning and this
interview will be supported with if necessary by a member of the careers team
within the college.
All students in Key
Stage 3 and 4 will complete Assessments on topics covered within their
Careers/Employability class. Also the
subject is included in our annual report to parents.
